Room Design Service
If your fitting out a new room or re-modelling and existing one, plan for the best results!
Almost any room can be used as a videoconference room, but where should you site your system? A little time and
investment spent at the outset will produce unexpected and welcome benefits - and with a system from Saville you'll
get much more than just the kit. As part of our one-stop package, we'll provide all the help you need to create an ideal,
tailored setting - and achieve the best possible pictures and sound.
Positioning
The impact of a well-chosen backdrop and good lighting will be obvious. Any doors, windows and untidy architecture in view are a source of distraction - and cameras don't like unwanted back-lighting. Video systems are normally placed at the end of the meeting room table so that it is possible to get a full view of everyone seated around the table. Key people should be clearly visible in the middle of the monitor when the camera is zoomed in on them.
ISDN Lines
To ensure safe and tidy cabling, the siting of the ISDN terminal is important. Our one-stop service can deliver major savings on your monthly bills by including line installation with Least Cost Routing (LCR).
Background
We'll help you choose a suitable, neutral background - avoid stripes and bold patterns. Plain curtains provide a perfect setting - they can be drawn in front of windows and doors when required, they prevent stray light from entering the camera lens and reduce shadows. Curtains also act as excellent sound insulators. We'll advise, quote and fit them for you.
Lighting
Try not to mix fluorescent and incandescent lighting. Good lighting of the right type needs to be on the subjects - not streaming in from windows or doors. We'll recommend a suitable solution and install it.
Sound
The further away the system is from air conditioners or elevator shafts - the less distracting noise. Table-top microphones should be placed at least 1m from the person speaking and at least 3m from the video conferencing system. For larger groups, you may want to consider a specialist 'boundary' microphone suspended from the ceiling.
Furniture
The right style, colours and layout will make you look professional. It should also allow you and your colleagues to feel organised and at ease when using the system. Tables that are curved, half-circle or in a V-shape will allow direct view of 4 to 6 seated participants. Conference tables with a matt surface are a good choice (e.g. light oak). Avoid chrome, bright metal finishes or glass on tables and chairs as they can cause reflections. A matching table, trolley or credenza may also be required for the document camera.
Floor Covering
Carpeted floors and insulated walls help reduce noise and echo.
Graphics
Your logo can be prominently - or discreetly - displayed on-screen for video meetings. We can help with the production and positioning of suitable graphics.
